Shrouds and stays (rod rigging)
  1. On upper and lower shroud tips (this kind of analysis allows to inspect 5 m of shroud length).
  2. On the fittings of shroud attachments (pins, bars, forks, toggles, eyes, jaws, etc).
  3. On each part which raised some suspect when visually analyzed.
On every shroud and part of its fittings. Internal flaws, superficial scratches, corrosion, and wear statedue toabrasion and atmospheric agents were checked. Particular attention was focused on the corrosion state of shroud ends when they are covered by sliding caps. In those areas in fact, water stagnation and friction cause a fast corrosion of the material. On parts that raised suspects after visual analysis or UT.

In particular, on the shrouds tips in order to find possible superficial cracks.

Shrouds and stays (wire rigging) On the fittings of shroud attachments (pins, bars, forks, toggles, eyes, jaws. etc.). On every part of the wire, terminals and fittings in order to check rust and broken strands. On parts that raised suspects after visual analysis or UT; on swage terminals, in order to check possible cracking.
Spreader bars (carbon) A section every 300mm

On every part of the spreader bars.
Spreader bars (aluminium) On every part of the spreader bars. On welds and parts that raised suspects after visual analysis.
Mast (carbon) A section every 300mm

On every part of the mast.
Boom (carbon) A section every 300mm OR Full scan

On every part of the boom.
Mast (aluminium) On every part of the mast. On welds and parts that raised suspects after visual analysis.
