Barcol hardness test

Barcol hardness test

The hardness of a sample can be estimated with the Barcol test. This method is based on the resistance opposed to penetration of a steel needle pushed by a spring. The depth of penetration is converted into a Barcol hardness value. Results vary on a 0 to 100 scale and provide an estimate of the crosslink degree of plastic materials and resins, both with and without fibres.
